NextImg:Taylor Tomlinson Slated To Become The Youngest Female Late Night Host In CBS’ Upcoming ‘After Midnight’

Taylor Tomlinson has been tapped to take over the 12:30 a.m. slot once held by James Corden‘s The Late Late Show in CBS‘ late night lineup. The 29-year-old comedian’s new show, After Midnight, is set to hit the network in 2024, making her the youngest and only female host in network late night television, per The New York Times.

According to the outlet, Stephen Colbert, who occupies the slot right before Tomlinson’s with his Late Show, is an executive producer on the upcoming project, and announced Tomlinson’s new late night series during his show on Wednesday (Nov. 1).

Tomlinson, who joined Colbert for last night’s announcement, took to Instagram to share the news, captioning her post, “I got a job ????.”

The second slide in her post featured a picture of Tomlinson’s priceless reaction when Colbert informed her that she was hired for the gig.

After Midnight will take inspiration from @midnight, a panel game show hosted by comedian Chris Hardwick that aired from 2013 until 2017, per Deadline. A report published by the outlet back in February had revealed that a reboot of the Comedy Central series would fill Corden’s previous time slot.

Tomlinson’s comedy credentials include Netflix specials Quarter-Life Crisis (2020) and Look At You (2022). She is currently on a worldwide comedy tour, with another Netflix stand-up special hitting the streamer in 2024, per the Times.

Tomlinson is certainly bringing some girl power to late night, becoming the first female host in The Late Late Show‘s time slot since its inception. With her new late night role, she’s following in the footsteps of women like Wanda Sykes, Joan Rivers, Chelsea Handler, Samantha Bee and Amber Ruffin.

According to USA Today, Corden, who retired from hosting The Late Late Show earlier this year, succeeded Craig Ferguson, who left in 2014. Prior to that, Craig Kilborn hosted, following Tom Snyder, who was The Late Late Show‘s inaugural host.
