Taylor Swift announced her 11th studio album titled “The Tortured Poets Department” at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
The 34-year-old singer will drop her forthcoming record on April 19 — and the 17-track set list already has fans wondering what she is singing about this time.
The track list features collaborations with Post Malone and Florence & The Machine, and includes songs such as “Fortnight,” “Florida!!!,” “So Long London,” “Clara Bow,” “Down Bad” and more.
First, the title could be in reference to the group chat her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn has with his friends Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, called “The Tortured Men’s Club.”
Her April 19 release date is also significant, as during the American Revolution, the battle of Lexington and Concord occurred in 1775 on that day.
Swift is seemingly declaring her independence from a certain British man — possibly Alwyn?
The English actor, 31, dated the “Cruel Summer” crooner from 2016 to 2023.
Other fans believe that Swift penned her new album at the same time as her 2022 record, “Midnights.”
Additionally, the single ““Florida!!!” could be about her Eras Tour shows at Raymond James Stadium from April 13-15, 2023.
That was around the time that the “Mary, Queen of Scots” actor and Swift’s breakup was made public.
It was also seemingly the date that Swift’s pals Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively unfollowed Alwyn on social media.
“So Long London” is an obvious reference to saying “goodbye” to her British ex, as he was born in the United Kingdom.
“Clara Bow” is the name of a silent film actress of the 1920s and is also one of her new song titles. She was known as “The It Girl” back in the day.
According to biography.com, Bow had “an overloaded work schedule” and was heavily scrutinized while in the limelight.
“She had been associated with a number of men off-screen and her romantic life became the object of much hurtful speculation and gossip, including a pamphlet put forth by an assistant with stories of Bow’s relationships,” the site noted.
The “Cats” actress announced her album while winning the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Crypto.com Arena in LA.
“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” she joked during her acceptance speech. She went on to thank fans, and in return, said she would reward them “by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th.”

“All’s fair in love and poetry…” Swift captioned her album artwork reveal via Instagram.
The singer has been keeping busy as of late. After winning her fourth album of the year award at the Grammys on Sunday night, she’s heading to Tokyo to pick back up her Eras Tour. On Sunday, Feb. 11, she will then fly to Las Vegas to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, face off against the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII.
