NextImg:Taylor Lewan tells internet to stop ‘overreacting’ to Titans-trash bag photo

Taylor Lewan didn’t take offense to his belongings being returned by the Titans in trash bags.

In a video posted Wednesday on Twitter — two days after the free-agent left tackle shared a now-viral photo of his possessions in bags on a porch — Lewan detailed the recent series of events after some on the internet interpreted the maneuver by the franchise as cold.

“The reason why I’m making this video right now is because, literally, everyone’s overreacting to the trash bags that the Titans left at my front door,” said Lewan, who was released by the team last month after nine seasons.

“I asked them to do it. [Jeb] Johnston, longtime cop, works for the Titans — I called him and said, ‘Hey, I need you to drop the stuff off at my house; there’s stuff that I need, so please drop it off.’

“So now he’s dropped it off. I posted, ‘Hey, thanks for doing it.’ Yeah, it’s in trash bags, who cares?” Lewan added.

The three-time Pro Bowler, who was selected by the Titans in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, added Wednesday that he wasn’t expecting to have the red carpet rolled out for his materials.

“What does it need to be in a horse-drawn chariot, a gold chariot that they ride up in and say, ‘Hey thanks for the last nine years?'”

Lewan concluded his video by expressing gratitude to the Titans organization.

“Let’s stop overreacting,” he said. “The Titans have treated me amazing; even when they cut me, they let me choose when I was gonna get cut.”

Lewan, who currently co-hosts the Barstool Sports podcast, “Bussin’ with the Boys,” is hopeful to continue his NFL career elsewhere — just not in the same division as the Titans.

“I would not go play for an AFC South team,” Lewan said on a recent episode of his podcast.

With free agency looming, it’s likely Lewan has crossed off the Jaguars, Colts, and Texans on his list of potential destinations.
