Tia Mowry will be venturing out on her own in her new WEtv reality show Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which will capture her new life after divorcing Cory Hardict, her husband of 14 years. But it appears that Mowry’s twin sister and frequent collaborator, Tamera Mowry, also won’t be making an appearance.
“Tia is living her life right now, and Tia is doing Tia,” Tamera told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. She added, that she “didn’t know” about Tia’s new show until it was announced this year. “I found out with the rest of the world!” she said with a playful roll of her eyes.
When asked if she will be making an appearance in My Next Act, Tamera responded, “Uh, she didn’t ask me. So I take that as, no! No, she’s like, this is my story, and you know, I can only respect that.”
She also denied that she and her husband, Adam Housley, have been setting Tia up on dates since her recent divorce. “I feel like she doesn’t want any of our input right now … and I can only respect that,” Tamera said. “So I think she is doing her. I’m just respecting that.”
Tamera’s claims, coupled with an emotional trailer teasing My Next Act‘s fall premiere, has fans speculating that the sisters may not be on speaking terms at all.
In a new trailer released Sept. 20, Tia candidly speaks on the loneliness she’s been experiencing recently without her husband and her twin.
“I came into this world with a twin and right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship so I have never been alone in my life. It has been quite a journey,” she says in the trailer. “Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.”
She added, “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”
People reports that a source denied that the sisters were not speaking anymore and clarified the concerning claims Tia made. “The sisters are still close, but the quote being referenced was about the lack of proximity in their physical location — Tamera lives in Napa and Tia lives in Los Angeles,” the source said.
My Next Act will show Tia “starting over” on her own for the very first time after having been in “public eye since I was 14 years old.”
“There is a whole other side of me,” she says in the trailer.
Tia Mowry: My Next Act premieres on WEtv Oct. 4.
