Takeo Spikes was invited as a legend to the Bills’ second game of the season — but didn’t appear to be treated like one.
The former linebacker, who played with the Bills from 2003-06, was not satisfied with his seating accommodations during the team’s Week 2 victory over the Raiders and left early, he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Congrats to @BuffaloBills for getting a dominant win in home opener,” Spikes wrote. “I wish I could’ve stayed for the entire game but seating [accommodations] were NOT the standard. How you gonna have the @NFLLegends supporting with this obstructed sample size of a view!? Felt like I was in timeout.”
Spikes wrote this as a quote tweet over a video of him hyping up Bills fans prior to the opening kickoff.
Spikes, 46, is perhaps best known for his time with the Bills, where he became a Pro Bowl linebacker in 2003 and 2004, making first-team All-Pro in the latter season, but he also spent three seasons with the 49ers from 2008-10.
A fan wrote to Spikes suggesting that the 49ers would’ve treated him better.
Spikes replied, saying, “I already know!”
Spikes was originally selected in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Bengals, where he spent his first five seasons before joining the Bills.
The Auburn alum, who also had stints with the Eagles and the Chargers, retired following the 2012 season with 1,431 career tackles, along with 29 sacks, 19 interceptions and 16 forced fumbles.
