NextImg:Takeaways from the high-stake Harris-Trump debate: Letters to the Editor — Sep. 12, 2024

The Issue: The prez debate between VP Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on ABC.

The debate was indeed a total “Kambush,” as The Post correctly defined it on the front page (Sept. 11).

Let’s not waste time discussing the memorized talking points and bogus commentators’ questions during the debate.

Let’s compare actual results: Former President Donald Trump’s four years and the Biden-Harris administration.

On the economy, national security, immigration and international policy, Trump is the clear winner.

The ABC moderators did such a biased job.

I don’t think Trump can ever get a fair opportunity.

What I witnessed was a personal attack on Trump’s character.

It seems that Vice President Kamala Harris was coached not to answer any questions but go after Trump, which is an arrogant disregard of voters’ interests.

If Harris wants another debate, it needs to be on Fox News with conservative moderators.

While I think that Kamala Harris clearly won Tuesday night’s debate, I think that Trump did more to lose it than she did to win.

First of all, this guy knows nothing about tariffs, or their effect on an economy, but continues to believe that if he shows that he’s tough that he will win the day.

The “socialists” at Goldman Sachs and the Wharton School have been clear about how Harris’ economic plan is considerably more favorable than Trump’s.

Then he extols the likes of a despot like Hungary’s Victor Orban, to show how respected he is among world leaders.

Most voters don’t even know who Orban is.

And Trump relies on nonexistent nonsense about immigrants eating pets to argue the immigration issue.

Admittedly, I am not a Trump fan, but at the same time, my advice to the Donald would be to avoid any more confrontations like this one, unless he is fully prepared.

He had every opportunity to make it a debate instead of the Kamala Harris show.

I watched the debate: I didn’t realize that David Muir was running for president.

It seemed that he was trying to correct Trump more than Harris.

It was a tag-team match with the ABC moderators and Harris partnering against Trump.

Tuesday night’s debate was good versus evil: and good won.

Harris was on point all night and made it clear that her ambitions are to serve the American people.

On the other hand, Trump was having a bad day, as he continued lie after lie, speaking endless gibberish.

He appeared nervous and angry, like a cornered animal.

He was not able to deny the past quotes of wanting to be a dictator and take away everything he possibly can from those who are in need.

Trump is a deranged man, just like the dictators that he worships.

He has no place in our society.

Harris, on the other hand, would be a great leader.

We just witnessed the setup of the century unfold on ABC during the Trump-Harris debate.

The current VP was asked point-blank questions regarding the economy and immigration and failed to answer them.

Instead she deflected by saying “look at the bad things Trump did.”

The moderators rarely pushed back.

Trump, however, was forced to answer on more than one occasion and was fact-checked on the spot as well, while the many falsehoods Harris stated went unchecked.

It was such a great job of a setup, that ABC made it appear as if Trump was the incumbent.

What a shame.

The Post should strive to be more objective in its political coverage.

This was no “Kambush.”

Kamala Harris absolutely roasted Trump.

He could not answer a simple question.

The guy is an embarrassment to this country.
