The cast of Euphoria is continuing the mourn the loss of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco in the first two seasons of the hit HBO drama. According to Sydney Sweeney, it was “such a shock” when her co-star died at only 25 years old.

The actress recently spoke to Glamour magazine to promote her new rom-com Anyone But You, which also stars Glen Powell.

While discussing what’s to come in the next season of Euphoria — which is slated for a 2025 release — Sweeney revealed how she and her castmates reacted to Cloud’s sudden death.

“[My co-stars and I] were constantly on the phone with each other crying, because it was just such a shock,” she told the outlet. “I don’t think it’ll truly feel real or hit me until we’re filming and I won’t see Angus on set.”

She continued, “[At least] when we are filming, all of our eyes are on each other and we’re there for each other, just in a different way than we’re able to when we’re all in very separate places in the world. It’s really interesting when someone passes away in our industry, because they’re still alive in so many forms.”

Cloud was found dead by his mother in his family’s home in Oakland, California on July 31. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office later ruled that he died of an accidental drug overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, benzodiazepines and methamphetamine, according to Variety.

In a July statement to TMZ, the actor’s family revealed that he “intensely struggled” with the recent passing of his father and called attention to the importance of mental health.

“The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend,” they said at the time. “Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

They continued, “We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
