If you’ve already grown tired of the “Showgirl” era of dressing and can’t fathom another round of “Wicked” themed greens and pinks dueling on the red carpet later this year, you’re not alone. Apparently, Sydney Sweeney isn’t obsessed with “method” dressing, either.
The actress and producer, 28, has been making the rounds on the festival circuit promoting her upcoming biopic, “Christy,” which hits theaters in November. The movie is about legendary 1990s boxer Christy Martin, and required Sweeney to undergo a serious physical transformation to embody the professional athlete’s form.
But now, she’s done with all that.
Although Sweeney reportedly packed on 30lbs of muscle for the role, she’s back to her svelte, buxom self, and, with the help of stylist Molly Dickson, continues to serve headline-making red-carpet looks that suit her shape.
Last weekend, in the Hamptons, Sweeney turned heads in a vintage Thierry Mugler tutu dress that was more suitable for a ballet stage than a boxing ring. Worn with a cropped suit jacket with curly lapels, the ’90s-era dress featured a plunging neckline and a basque waist bustier. She added a white mini skirt under the sheer, structured tutu, which had bows on both hips, and paired the look with ivory tulle high heels by Jimmy Choo for the Hamptons International Film Festival red carpet.
Sweeney, who was honored with an achievement in acting award, later changed into a pair of white Chloé sneakers, much to her stylist’s dismay. According to Dickson, this is “what happens when I’m not there—she somehow ends up in sneakers,” she posted playfully on Instagram stories later that evening.
Paired with stilettos or sneakers, this look is another hit in Sweeney’s ongoing streak of A+ red carpet outfits. Her pale pink Erdem dress turned heads last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, and her starry Britney Spears birthday ensemble by the Blonds was truly out of this world.
Come to think of it, maybe Sweeney is sticking to the method dressing trend for her boxing flick; every look she serves is a total knockout.
