There’s no place like home for the holidays, and Sydney Sweeney‘s heartwarming story will remind fans of just that.

During Sweeney’s appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show yesterday morning (Dec. 19), host Kelly Clarkson asked the Anyone But You leading lady about buying back “the house that [she] grew up in,” which had been home to “many generations of [her] family,” per Entertainment Weekly.

Sweeney explained, “My great-grandma had this beautiful house. It was like a two-bedroom, cute house that they lived in. And my grandma was born in it and my mom was born in it.”

She shared how another home was eventually built on the property “as the kids got older.”

“And when my great-grandpa passed away and my great-grandma got old, they just couldn’t afford to keep it anymore,” she added, noting that the upkeep “was a lot.”

She continued, “Last year I called up the owners and was like, I wanna buy my great-grandma’s house back.”

The Euphoria star pointed out that “it’s really cool” because her “granny  still lives in the house next door,” adding, “So I’m neighbors with my granny now.”

Clarkson likened her situation to “a Hallmark movie,” which Sweeney admitted she does watch around the holidays. She also highlighted her family’s holiday tradition of donning “matching onesies” and watching a Harry Potter marathon.

“We just watch every single one every year,” she shared, which Clarkson said she also does with her kids.

“I think when they were younger, I was like, ‘This might be too soon for Lord Voldemort,'” she recalled, “because it’s a little scary. You know, the Dementors, all of it. And then nope, they didn’t care.”

Sweeney’s previously opened up about her family finances while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2022, noting at the time that “if [she] wanted to take a six-month break, [she doesn’t] have income to cover that.”

“I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help,” she said at the time, noting that actors “no longer get residuals.”

She also told Women’s Health last month that she “watched [her] parents struggle a lot,” recalling that they “couldn’t afford life in LA.”

“It was hard because they were supporting my dream, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” she said. “I didn’t want to fail them.”
