NextImg:Sweet deal: Developer Christian Candy lops $7.5M off Bahamas mansion

Christian Candy — who developed London’s famed One Hyde Park with his brother Nick — has chopped the price of his Bahamas estate to $67.5 million, down from its initial asking price of $75 million in April.

Candy and his wife Emily Crompton-Candy bought the New Providence property, known as Lion House, for around $40 million in 2021 and then renovated it.

The five-bedroom home comes with two guest houses — Love Cottage, with two bedrooms, a living area and a wine room, and Hope Cottage, a one-bedroom — and sits on 0.76 private acres inside a resort known as Albany.

The couple moved to the island full time during the pandemic in part to take advantage of new international schools and to provide their kids with a more laid-back lifestyle, according to a spokesperson.

The move came a few years after the Candy brothers, known as the Brothers Bling, were cleared of all charges in a high-profile London court case that was the talk of the town when their former friend Mark Holyoake accused them of extortion, blackmail, intimidation and breach of data protection legislation.

The case also revealed that murdered Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko and Andrey Lugovoy, the former KGB officer accused of poisoning him to death, worked for an investigations firm “whose director was a key Candy adviser,” according to reports.

Albany — a 600-acre private community founded by heavy hitters, athletes and performers like Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake — allows owners to sublet. The tricked-out property boasts a dance studio, an art space, a spa, a screening room and a pool. A megayacht-friendly, 71-slip marina is in front of the property.

The local listing broker is Jason Callender, of Callenders Realty Ltd., who was referred by Tal and Oren Alexander of Official, which is co-marketing the property.
