A convicted felon and a known gang member are being sought in connection with the senseless shooting of a 5-year-old girl in The Bronx last week, police said Monday.
Cops believe Austin Morrishow, 25, and Curtis White, 26, were the two gunmen who opened fire on a car Friday at a memorial on East 214th Street, Assistant Chief Joe Kenny said at a press conference in One Police Plaza.
Morrishow and White were among the large group that had gathered around 7 p.m. following the nearby death of 26-year-old Justin Rodriguez, who was gunned down a block away on Thursday morning.
At one point, a car backfired and people started to panic, believing a loud bang was a pop of gunfire.
The two men then ran into the streets and began spraying bullets in the street, striking the little girl in the back as she rode in her family car, Kenny said.

The assistant chief said detectives were able to track down video of the shooting.
White was convicted of attempted assault in a shooting in 2015 and served two years of his four-year stint before being released to parole, prison records show. He was also busted for firearm possession in Atlanta, Georgia, according to Kenny.
The other alleged shooter, Morrishow, is a member of the Mac Baller gang and wanted in a robbery pattern in Brooklyn, according to Kenny. He is on probation for a federal gun arrest until 2025 and was also picked up for robbery in 2017, according to the assistant chief.

The NYPD released photos of the suspects Monday afternoon.
The girl was seriously injured by expected to survive.
“Yesterday, I visited that little girl and to see what she and her family were going through is not only heartbreaking it is infuriating,” Acting Police Commissioner Edward Caban said Monday at the press conference.

“So beside her bedside, I made a promise to her and to her family: we promised that would never rest until her shooter was found and held accountable.”
