The Multiverse can lead to many, many strange experiences. For example, let’s say you traveled to a parallel Earth where “you” died, and now you’re meeting your “sister” for the first time. What kind of emotions would be involved? How complicated would the relationship be? And would you drop a surprising Easter egg reference to a pair of DC comics superheroes in the process? Oddly specific, but that’s exactly what happens between John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) and Dr. Irons (Angel Parker) in this exclusive clip from tonight’s new episode of Superman & Lois.

Here’s the gist, if multiversal madness gives you a headache. John Henry escaped his own Earth, which was destroyed during the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, only to crash on another alternate Earth — the one Superman & Lois takes place on. Thanks to some sleuthing from Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), John Henry discovered that the version of him on this Earth was a military man, seemingly got recruited by the villainous Bruno Manheim (Chad Coleman) to join his Intergang, and then was murdered.

Oh, it’s also important to know that in Season 2, an entirely different, cube-shaped Earth appeared over the Superman & Lois Earth and started merging everyone with their doubles. Short version? Everyone has a vague understanding about the multiverse, so when John Henry walks up with Dr. Irons and explains that he’s not her John Henry, she gets it quicker than you or I would.

Over the course of the scene, John Henry discovers more about his double as he tries to help investigate his own death, and find out more about what Manheim is up to. But with that out of the way, it’s sibling bonding time, and that’s when John Henry and Dr. Irons discover they have a lot more in common than you might expect from people who grew up on different Earths. In fact, it turns out on both planets, their Dad called them “the Wonder Twins.”

The classic characters The Wonder Twins — Zan and Jayna — had the powers to turn into any kind of water, and any animal respectively. So will we be making a surprising discovery about Dr. Irons’ first name, and powerset? Will John Henry be getting non super-suit powers of his own? Or, more likely, is this just a fun Easter egg for DC fans? Regardless, there’s a lot more to this story as the Irons family continues to expand.

Watch the clip above, and a synopsis for the episode, which airs tonight at 8/7c on The CW, below.
