The audition process for Superman: Legacy is reportedly ramping up, meaning DC could be finding its new Clark Kent and Lois Lane sooner than we think.

Deadline reports insiders close to the matter say in-person screen tests will begin soon, possibly around Father’s Day weekend or the week after.

Previous reports claim that there are multiple actors in the running for both roles. Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, and David Corenswet are reportedly being considered for Superman, while Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor, Samara Weaving, and Rachel Brosnahan are in the running for Lois Lane.

Superman: Legacy will focus on a younger Superman “balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” according to DC’s co-CEO, Peter Safran. Some reports claim the studio is hoping to focus on a group of 20-somethings in Metropolis. This change in direction is what led the studio to part ways with Henry Cavill, who previously held the role.

Brosnahan, who just came off of leading the critically acclaimed Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, reportedly gave an “outstanding” audition for Lois Lane.

“I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice,” she joked during an appearance on The View when the hosts asked about the rumors. “Look, it would be extraordinary. I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, far from a damsel in distress, and I would jump at the chance if it arose.”

DC’s co-CEO James Gunn is set to direct the film. He has made his name in the superhero genre after directing all three of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Suicide Squad.

A lot is weighing on this upcoming title. It’s previously been deemed the “true kick-off for [Gunn and Safran’s] DCU plans.”

Superman: Legacy is tentatively slated to be released on July 11, 2025.
