It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … not Henry Cavill!

DC Studios CEO James Gunn dropped the first photo of the latest actor to play Clark Kent, David Corenswet, Monday.

“Get Ready. Superman. 7.11.25,” the director wrote in a caption on the social media platform Threads alongside the image of Corenswet, 30, decked out in the iconic Superman suit.

The Warner Bros. film had previously been titled “Superman: Legacy,” but Gunn announced in February that he had chopped off the second half of the name.

“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy,’” he wrote. “By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was ‘Superman.’”

Corenswet takes over from Cavill, 41, who played the hero in six films, beginning with 2013’s “Man of Steel” and ending with an uncredited cameo in 2023’s “The Flash.”

Coincidentally, Cavill’s birthday was Sunday, May 5.

Superman is, by far, the biggest role to date for Corenswet, who has previously appeared on Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series “The Politician” and “Hollywood.”

He’ll star opposite “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and “The Great” actor Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

“Superman,” which will hit theaters July 11, 2025, is the first film in the planned revamp of the DC Universe. It’s part of an initial grouping of movies dubbed “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.”
