Travis Kelce may get all the headlines, but Super Bowl 2024’s other star tight end isn’t so bad himself.
George Kittle turned in yet another excellent season in 2023, catching 65 passes for 1,020 yards (63.75 yards per game) with six touchdowns.
The seven-year veteran had the best year of his career when it came to the deep ball, averaging a career-high 15.7 yards per catch and 18 explosive receptions (20-plus yards catches) during the regular season.
Kittle was even more proficient with the big play as the season went on, logging 16 of his 18 20-plus yards catches since late October.
That continued into the postseason when he caught two 32-yard passes against the Packers in the divisional round and a 28-yarder against the Lions in the NFC Championship game.
The Chiefs’ secondary ranked as one of the best in the NFL all season, but that’s largely on the backs of star corners Trent McDuffie and L’Jarius Sneed.
That duo will likely be preoccupied with Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel on the outside, leaving Kittle open to break off a big play or two.
Kansas City had a soft spot against tight ends this season, allowing 1,315 yards to the position during the regular season, the third-most in the NFL, while McDuffie and Sneed locked down opposing receivers.
That’s why we’re betting on Kittle to go over 20.5 yards on his longest reception (-120, FanDuel Sportsbook).
He’s gone over this number in eight of his last 10 games.
It’s also worth sprinkling a bit of money on Kittle to have a 30+ yard reception (+290) or even a 40+ yard reception (+700), which are both numbers he has eclipsed over his last three games.
The play: George Kittle’s longest reception Over 20.5 yards (-120, FanDuel)
