A deal’s a deal, and Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin are shaking on it. The co-hosts made a bet on this morning’s episode of The View about former president Donald Trump‘s likelihood of conviction.
During a discussion about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis being “overshadowed” by Trump’s latest possible indictment, the panel debated the odds of Trump facing consequences before the 2024 election.
Griffin issued a “warning” to the panel, saying, “Sunny and I disagree on this. We can take a bet now: I am worried, talking to legal experts, not a lawyer, you are,” gesturing to Hostin.
She continued, “I am not convinced that any of these Trump cases are going to be tried, convicted and sentenced without — and have him go through an appeal process — before the election.”
Hostin wanted to hold Griffin to her word. She piped up, “How much we betting?” to which Griffin replied, “I’ll put 100 bucks on it!”
And with that, the two women grasped hands and shook on the bet, making it official.
Griffin continued, “I hope she’s right,” turning to Hostin and reiterating, “I hope you are right,” before adding, “But I say that because Republican candidates in the field can’t just be like, ‘Oh, I’m just waiting for him to get arrested and then I’m going to have my moment and take the country in a different direction.’ You have to challenge him now.”

Whoopi Goldberg weighed in to add, “That’s what we’re gonna be watching, it’s what the nation’s gonna be watching. What do you want? You know, you say people who are felons can’t vote — well, why are you letting them run the country, you know?”
And Hostin was in full support, exclaiming, “If he gets convicted, every single convicted felon in this country should be able to vote. Every single one.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
