The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives took the world by storm when it premiered in September 2024. It was not at all surprising that the show was swiftly renewed for 20 more episodes, 10 of which just dropped in Season 2 on Hulu. Having seen the first three episodes ahead of time, I can safely promise a dramatic season filled with more Ketamine treatments, dirty sodas, Utah curls, and soft-swinging gossip with cast members Taylor Frankie Paul, Mayci Neely, Whitney Leavitt, Mikayla Matthews, Demi Engemann, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Jennifer Affleck and newbie Miranda McWhorter. But does it beat the hype of Season 1? There’s a good chance it does!
Opening Shot: The MomTokkers kick off Season 2 at an influencer event, where they plan to ring in spooky season with cute little cowboy costumes (and yes, Mormons do celebrate Halloween!). But things take a dramatic turn when Miranda, one of the women who used to swing with Taylor and her ex-husband, shows up to the event looking to rejoin MomTok.
The Gist: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows a group of young Mormon moms/influencers from Utah. Season 1 documented the aftermath of MomTok founder Taylor’s confession that she and her then-husband Tate Paul were soft-swinging with their other Mormon friends. The swinging drama doesn’t necessarily go away in Season 2, as one of the women involved in the scandal, Miranda, joins the series as a full-time cast member trying to inch her way back into MomTok. Plus, we get to see where Jen and Zac’s relationship stands after their explosive argument over her presence at a Chippendales show in Las Vegas — and where Whitney stands with the group after leaving MomTok at the end of last season.
What Shows Will This Remind You Of? The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is the love child of Teen Mom and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Our Take: When The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 1 opened with Taylor’s soft-swinging scandal, ectopic pregnancy, domestic violence arrest, and then another pregnancy with the same man whom she was arrested for assaulting, I didn’t think things could get more dramatic. But, boy, was I wrong.
In Season 2, everyone is getting in on the chaos. Jen has recently separated from her husband Zac, who, in the process of trying to win her back, gets her pregnant with their third child. Demi and Jessi are getting messy by taunting Zac with a Chippendales performance from their husbands (if you know, you know). Taylor finds out that Dakota wasn’t truthful early on in their relationship and did, in fact, lie to her about his relations with Jenna. Plus, she must come face to face with Miranda (and her ex-husband Chase) for the first time since outing their soft-swinging scandal. Sh*t even gets real with Mikayla as she bravely opens up about being sexually abused as a child.

What makes The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives so great is that it’s reminiscent of old-school reality TV, where the cameras follow the stars rather than the other way around. These women aren’t produced, they aren’t holding back, and they aren’t just on the show searching for their next brand deal (that’s what they have TikTok for, duh). I should also take a moment to praise the quick turnaround from Season 1, which ended on a cliffhanger when Mayci called Jenna to uncover the truth about her past with Dakota. Cameras picked up almost immediately after Season 1 dropped on Hulu to capture the next chapter in this saga — and we didn’t even have to wait a full year to find out how it all unfolded!
Sex and Skin: There’s no sex and skin in this show — just some Chippendales-like dancing from the men, if you’re into that kind of thing.
Sleeper Star: Miranda might just be this season’s sleeper star. As Taylor’s ex-BFF, Miranda’s sudden return to MomTok in light of her divorce lends itself to a lot of drama, leaving the other wives to question her motives. While some of the ladies wonder whether she’s just after clout, I can’t help but feel like she finally got the courage to reattach herself to the scandal after her divorce from Chase, who seems like a rather problematic man when we meet him in Episode 3. Not to mention, we’re getting even more juicy details into what actually happened at these so-called soft-swinging parties. All that’s left to do is get the third couple involved in the show.
Most Pilot-y Line: While convening with some of the other women, Mayci declares, “Cheers to surviving. MomTok survives!”
Our Call: STREAM IT. Believe it or not, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 might be even better than Season 1.
