Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp has spoken out about his recent claims about the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict after facing continued backlash online.

In a new video shared to TikTok, the actor claimed that he wanted to clarify his beliefs after they had been “far misconstrued.” Schnapp has previously shared statements on social media expressing that he felt “afraid” as a Jewish American following the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, writing in an Oct. 11 Instagram post, “You either stand with Israel or you stand with terrorism.”

He was also spotted in a video with friends holding up stickers that read “Zionism is Sexy.”

In the new video, Schnapp says, “I only want peace and safety and security for all innocent people affected by this conflict. I’ve had many open discussions with friends from Palestine, Palestinian background, and I think those are very important conversations to have and I’ve learned a lot. We all hope for the same things… Anyone with any ounce of humanity would hope for an end to the hostilities on both sides.”

He continues, “One of the takeaways I’ve had is that we all hope for the same things, that being those innocent people still being held hostage in Gaza to be returned to their families and equally hope for an end to the loss of innocent life in Palestine — so many of those people being women and children, and it’s horrible to see.”

Schnapp’s video comes as the Israel-Hamas conflict recently surpassed 100 days. Since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that left 1,200 people dead, the death toll in the conflict has now reached north of 24,000.

The actor’s previous statements spurred fans on social media to call for a boycott of the highly anticipated new season of Stranger Things. Some even called for Schnapp to be removed from the cast.

Schnapp isn’t the only Stranger Things star to speak out in support of Israel during the ongoing conflict. Actor Brett Gelman, who became an audience favorite with the introduction of his character Murray Bauman in Season 4, railed against “fake woke liberals” who are “pushing this false antisemitic narrative” in a series of social media posts last fall.

Production on Stranger Things Season 5 was expected to begin in January after filming was postponed due to the Hollywood strikes.

It is expected to premiere some time in 2025.
