NextImg:Steven Yeun exits Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’: ‘Maybe he realized the MCU is dying?’

Steven Yeun is out at Marvel.

The “Minari” star, 40, will reportedly no longer be starring in the superhero flick “Thunderbolts” as the character Sentry, sources told the Hollywood Reporter Tuesday.

While insiders did not give an explicit reason for the actor’s departure, they cited that the recent actors and writers strikes could be a factor.

Additionally, the Marvel movie — which was originally going to be released July 2024 — was being pushed back to 2025.

Sources added that the strikes “put schedules in disarray” and could be another cause for Yeun’s exit.

Filming still hasn’t begun on the feature, which is set to star Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour and Wyatt Russell.

It was first reported in February 2023 that the “Beef” actor had joined the anti-hero film.

It is still unclear if his role will be recast or erased entirely.

Comic book fans took to X to wonder why Yeun was leaving the movie. One person joked about the “Walking Dead” alum reading the screenplay and deciding to opt out due to its possible poor quality.

“Steven Yeun read the script and was like…” someone wrote alongside a gif of man making the “deuces” sign and disappearing into thin air.

“No Steven Yeun?! Maybe he realized the MCU is dying and jumped ship,” another person asked.

One chimed in: “I’m not even mad at Steven Yeun for leaving it just kinda threw me off.. but wow. There has been new reports of actors rejecting roles.”

Another user posted: “Yesss steven yeun save yourself from the mcu you dont need them king.”

“We really lost a chance to see John Boyega & Steven Yeun in the MCU because of scheduling conflicts. Sh-t happens & it’s normal in Hollywood but it still sucks ass,” a person said.

“Oh come on why I was excited to see Steven yeun in thunderbolts but now he dropped out that’s not fair,” someone penned.

“Thunderbolts” comprises of a team of MCU supervillains and antiheroes — Marvel’s answer to DC’s “Suicide Squad.”

The project is supposed to begin Phase Six of the cinematic universe.

The movie was originally written by Black Widow‘s Eric Pearson, but it was announced in March 2023 that Lee Sung Jin has taken over.

“I can’t say what it is, but I can say that there is something different,” director Jack Schreier previously told IGN.

“I think that something that was exciting about ‘Thunderbolts’ is it’s not a sequel. It’s a new story, and it’s a set of characters that maybe we’ve met a little bit in the MCU before, but this is a very new take on who they are and what brings them together,” he continued. “Probably not what people are expecting from it, but I guess I can’t really say more than that.”
