Observations from Giants camp on Wednesday
It was an active and productive practice for wideout Sterling Shepard.
He was talkative, too, particularly during one-on-one drills when he spun around safety Morgan Vest, drew a defensive pass interference flag and still made the catch.
The veteran looked spry after being given a rest day on Tuesday.
Tight end Tommy Sweeney collapsed while working off to the side with a trainer and was taken off the field on a cart with what the team described as a “medical event.”
The 28-year-old Sweeney was in stable condition and alert, the team said after practice.
Rookie cornerback Tre Hawkins III stood out early in practice and got beaten late. In one-on-one drills, he stayed with Shepard leading to an incomplete pass and later made a diving breakup of a Daniel Jones pass intended for Darius Slayton in team drills.
Later, however, Jones and Slayton beat Hawkins on a deep pass down the right sideline.
Receiver Cole Beasley (leg) returned to practice, but didn’t take part in team drills. TE Darren Waller, WR Paris Campbell, DL A’Shawn Robinson, OL Marcus McKethan and LB Darrian Beavers were given rest days.
