NextImg:Stefon Diggs expresses anger over Bills’ early playoff exits: ‘Doesn’t make sense’

Stefon Diggs still can’t stop thinking about the Bills’ early playoff exits from the last two seasons.

In an appearance on HBO’s “The Shop: Uninterrupted,” Diggs said “it doesn’t make sense” why Buffalo hasn’t advanced to the AFC Championship game the last two years — “like I will rack my brain with this s–t at this point.”

“I think it’s more execution than anything,” Diggs said. “S–t is small little pieces on why s–t is not going right. You can rack your brain, like we got the players. We got the plays. Why s–t ain’t coming together?”

Diggs recalled how in his first year with the Bills — following a trade from the Vikings — they advanced to the AFC Championship in January 2021 before falling to the Chiefs, 38-24.

That night, Diggs stayed on the field, perched in the background, as Kansas City celebrated its Super Bowl berth with a trophy ceremony.

“Like the rest of the guys, he’s very frustrated,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said about Diggs following that game, according to Syracuse.com. “He’s a heck of a competitor, as are the guys in our locker room. It stinks to get this far. Sometimes the further you go, the harder it is to lose. It’s a learning experience for us as an organization, and we got to get back to work here.”

Buffalo hasn’t returned to that point since, though. It came close the following year, taking a late lead against the Chiefs in the AFC divisional round, but Buffalo allowed a 13-second, game-tying drive that ultimately forced overtime.

Then, in 2022, the Bills were crushed by the Bengals and didn’t advance past the divisional round.

Late in that game, Diggs appeared to express frustration toward Bills quarterback Josh Allen, as the wideout flung his arms up and down and appeared to speak toward Allen.

Diggs then tweeted about his reaction the next day, typing, “Want me to be okay with losing ? Nah.”

The 2022 campaign marked the 29-year-old’s third with the Bills since the team acquired him from the Vikings.

He led the NFL in catches and receiving yards in 2020, and in the last two seasons, Diggs has recorded 100-plus catches, more than 1,000 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns for the first two times in his career.

“So if you really look at the grand scheme of things, like Minnesota sent me to Buffalo not to have the career that I’ve been having,” Diggs said on “The Shop.”

“… So for me, I felt like they sent me there for siit not to go well, in my opinion.”

Diggs also touched on a variety of other topics — such as his relationship with his younger brother Trevon, a Cowboys defensive back, and Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest — during the interview.
