NextImg:Stefon Diggs breaks silence after mysterious Bills absence

After a dramatic day at Bills minicamp in which Stefon Diggs was the main topic of conversation but not in attendance, the mercurial wide receiver broke his silence on social media.

Diggs, 29, posted a pair of Instagram stories on Tuesday night, with cryptic messages that seemed to be directed toward someone inside or around the Buffalo organization.

“I just be letting people cap. If them lies help you sleep better tell em big dawg,” the first one read.

“My phone been silent for like 6 years. Ion play all them sounds and s–t,” Diggs wrote in a follow-up.

Diggs was not present on the first day of mandatory minicamp in Buffalo, with head coach Sean McDermott admitting he was “very concerned” about his lack of attendance.

Diggs’ agent then fired back later in the day, insisting that the wideout was in fact in the building but left before the minicamp began.

“There are things being worked out — on the way to being worked out,” his agent, Adisa Bakari, told NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. “Stefon has been there Sunday night. He was in the building this morning.”

Perhaps Diggs thought McDermott was the one who was “capping” – or lying – but it all remains unclear.

Later on in the day on Tuesday, Bills star quarterback Josh Allen added more smoke to the situation, referring to “internal” issues surrounding Diggs and the team.

“Internally, we’re working on some things,” Allen said. “Not football-related. Stef, he’s my guy. I f–king love him. He’s a brother of mine. This does not work, what we’re doing here, without him.”

Regardless of what ends up happening with Diggs – he is under contract with the team through 2027 after signing a contract extension last offseason – it’s certainly more drama than the Bills would like to deal with during their offseason program as they chase an elusive Super Bowl title.

Diggs has a lot of leverage with the team.

Buffalo has yet to have a reliable receiver step up as the No. 2 option in the offense, and their pass-catching group looks awfully thin without Diggs, who is coming off three straight Pro Bowls.
