NextImg:Stefon Diggs’ Bills frustrations are ‘water under the bridge’

Stefon Diggs is putting the drama behind him.

The Bills wide receiver sparked speculation in mid-June when he missed the first day of Buffalo’s mandatory minicamp, causing head coach Sean McDermott to say he was “very concerned” about the situation.

Diggs, 29, returned to minicap the following day, and it seems all previous issues have now been resolved between the three-time Pro Bowler and the Bills organization.

“From a standpoint from a head coach, I have the utmost respect for him. He’s a guy that you can always have an open-door policy with and have conversations with him as a man, which is more important than football,” Diggs said of McDermott on Wednesday.

“I feel like we are on the same page moving forward. Like I said, it’s all water under the bridge. I know you guys haven’t spent too much time with me all offseason and I missed you guys too, but all is well in the Mafia household.”

McDermott echoed a similar sentiment on Wednesday, saying he and the team were in “a good spot” with Diggs as training camp opened up.

Diggs’ prior grievances were tied to how last season ended, falling in the divisional round against the Cincinnati Bengals and his role in the offense.

“Obviously, the way we lost was just terrible in any regard. You don’t want to lose any game. We’ve lost for a couple of years at this point,” Diggs said.

“We did have a conversation. It’s all water under the bridge now. I attribute it to like family matters. I don’t like dancing around things, and I don’t like those kinds of questions. Everyone has family matters, we had a conversation, all is well.”

Diggs, who inked a four-year, $96 million extension with the Bills last offseason, said he “100 percent” still wants to eventually retire in Buffalo, reconfirming his commitment to the squad ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Last season, Diggs caught 108 passes for 1,429 yards with 11 touchdowns, totaling over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last five seasons, including an NFL-best 1,535 yards in 2020.
