NASA has created shocking visuals of carbon emissions “to dissect our atmosphere and understand some of the major contributors” behind the gas.

The videos, which are time lapses of the gnarly-looking greenhouse emission from 2021, show the patterns carbon had taken above each continent throughout those twelve months.

In the diagrams, fossil fuels are colored orange, burning biomasses are red, land ecosystems are shown in green and the ocean is tinted blue.

Upon each continental visual, NASA also noted “some interesting features” on each region’s emissions.

In the US, the northeast — from Washington, DC to Boston — was considered “a major pollution hotspot” and, in South America, plants in the Amazon rainforest are absorbing carbon through sunlight.

NASA has released new videos simulating carbon emissions across the globe.

During overnights after absorption, those plants inevitably let the carbon “build up,” according to NASA.

Both Europe and Saudi Arabia were also flagged for having “relatively high fossil fuel emissions.” Emissions from agriculture were also spotted heavily in Central Africa and Beijing was also listed as a major pollution hotspot.

Down under in Australia, there was a “relative lack of fossil fuel emissions,” NASA reported. The agency attributes that to “a low population density.”
