NextImg:Starling Marte reveals engagement to Elianny Santana on Instagram

Starling Marte may not be on the field, but he hit one out of the park on Monday.

Marte announced on his Instagram that he had proposed to his now- fiancée Elianny Santana.

In the post, the couple is seen kissing in the back seat of a car with Santana holding up her hand with the words “I said yes” written on her palm.

The engagement ring is also visible in the picture.

In a second photo, the couple is captured holding hands on the hood of a Rolls Royce with the phrase “she said yes” scrawled on Marte’s hand and the ring clearly posed on Santana’s hand.

The engagement comes a little more than three years after Marte lost his first wife in 2020 when she passed away suddenly due to a heart attack

Marte has often posted images of himself with Santana on his social media.

In a post in early April, Marte posted a video with various images of the couple while the song “Que mas puedo pedir” by Carin León played in the background.

While Marte celebrated the happy moment off the field, he has struggled this season due to a lingering groin issue and went on the injured list earlier this month.

While he had expressed optimism about a quick return, he told reporters on Friday that he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to play in September.

“We don’t know yet,” Marte told reporters through an interpreter, according to MLB.com. “It could be. It could not be. We’re just trying to go through the proper procedures and the proper methods and the proper training to be able to get to that point. But right now, it’s too early to tell.”

Marte called the possibility of further surgery on his groin this offseason “complicated.”

“That’s a conversation that’s going to have to be had with the trainers,” he said. “I’m sure they’re talking about it. They’re having meetings about it. They probably know better than I do.”
