Are you planning to wager on the NFL in 2023?
More than one in three of you are.
According to an annual survey by the American Gaming Association, 37 percent of NFL fans plan to bet on the National Football League this season.
That percentage equals a massive 73.5 million people — or 19 percent of all American adults who will be placing their hard-earned money on the NFL.
Most of those Americans (14 percent) will place their bets at a legal online sportsbook, like FanDuel, Caesars or BetMGM.
Currently, just 24 of the 50 states have operational online sports betting markets, with Kentucky, Maine, North Carolina and Vermont about to launch their markets.
Kentucky is set to launch sports betting Sept. 28.
Even the league and teams themselves are beginning to come around with massive amounts of sports betting marketing taking place during games and throughout the week.
The Kansas City Chiefs have embraced the movement, advertising the over/under total for the “Thursday Night Football” season opener between the Chiefs and Lions.
Betting is likely to continue to shape the sports media landscape with ads, live betting and in-arena sportsbooks.
But not everyone is thrilled with the sports gambling love that has been widespread from the league, especially with 10 players suspended for betting on football.
The betting world is just getting started though and all eyes will be on the league when the Super Bowl LVIII hits Las Vegas in February.
