After a two-week delay, the first episode of South Park Season 27 finally airs tonight.
Legal complications in the merger between Paramount and Skydance were cited when the season delay was announced earlier this month. In a statement posted to X, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said “This merger is a s***show and it’s f*****g up South Park.”
Now, with just hours to spare until the Season 27 premiere, it was announced that Parker and Stone inked a new five-year deal with Paramount that includes five new 10-episode seasons, next-day new episodes on Paramount+, and the entire 26-season South Park catalog moving from HBO Max to Paramount+ imminently.
However, episodes will still air on Comedy Central first.

On July 23, Trey Parker & Matt Stone inked a new deal with Paramount to make its Paramount+ streamer the global home for the series. This includes all 26 existing seasons in addition to 50 new episodes across five new seasons.

At the time of writing, Seasons 1-26 of South Park are streaming on HBO Max, but they’re expected to leave the streamer soon thanks to the show’s creators’ newly signed deal with Paramount+.
