NextImg:Sophie Cunningham calls Caitlin Clark haters ‘dumb as f–k’ for saying she’s not the face of WNBA

Sophie Cunningham is already firing shots on her new podcast.

Cunningham, speaking Wednesday on “Show Me Something,” didn’t mince words when discussing many fans’ discrediting of her Indiana Fever co-star Caitlin Clark.

“It pisses me off when people are like, ‘[Clark’s] not the face of the league,’” Cunningham said with a baffled look on her face. “When people try to argue that she’s not the face of our league or that our league would be where we’re at without her — you’re dumb as s–t, you’re literally dumb as f–k.”

The 28-year-old’s comments come in just the first episode of her new podcast, which she describes as “unfiltered.” She surely backed that up by calling out Clark haters on day one — with no filter.

Clark has, of course, taken the world by storm in the past several years, being credited by many for the meteoric rise of the WNBA and women’s basketball.

Cunningham noted that there are other “really good” and “badass” players in the league, but she scoffed at the idea of not hailing Clark as the face of the league.

Cunningham broke the internet in June for tossing Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon to the ground at the end of a tense game after Sheldon poked Clark in the eye earlier in the contest.

Cunningham also spoke about this incident, noting how players around the league have gone overboard in trying to “toughen up” Clark and “show her what the [WNBA] really is.”

“It’s too much, I’m over it,” she said.

“Why bully a person who has a huge role in growing your sport?” Cunningham’s co-host, Bravo star West Wilson, asked.

Cunningham sees Clark’s WNBA impact firsthand, and it appears she’ll have no issue filling the world in on this in the new podcast that launched Wednesday through Colin Cowherd’s media company, “The Volume.”

Cunningham will work on it with Wilson, a longtime friend from their hometown of Columbia, Missouri.
