Braxton Berrios has entered the chat.
The Miami Dolphins receiver took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday and appeared to address the fallout of his breakup with model Sophia Culpo, who alleged in April the relationship “didn’t end well or honestly.”
“I don’t want to start anything. I don’t want to fuel anything. I genuinely want all of this to be over and everybody to move on and do whatever makes them happy,” the 27-year-old Berrios began.
“I was in a relationship for two years. It was a good relationship, it was a healthy one. And towards the end of it, we had conversations along the lines of we just weren’t working out. So when we split back in January, that’s why.”
Berrios, who was linked to TikTok star and influencer Alix Earle shortly after his split from Culpo, continued, “It had nothing to do with anything else, it had nothing to do with anybody else, for that matter.”
“We just didn’t work out, and that’s OK,” the former Jets wideout said. “It’s been very weird and sad to see kind of what’s gone on since then, I’ve been quiet because it’s totally out of character for me to talk about my private life, publicly. But I feel like it needed to be touched on now.”
Berrios’ message comes after Earle, 22, confirmed the widely speculated romance, as the pair was spotted in the Hamptons this past weekend at the Palm Tree Music Festival.
Earle also posted a TikTok video on Sunday that featured her embracing a shirtless man in bed, which fans identified as Berrios.
Culpo, the younger sister of former Miss Universe winner Olivia Culpo, allegedly shaded her ex’s apparent romance this week in a since-deleted TikTok video that featured the caption, “Give it a few but call me when the love bombing ends. I gotchu #girltok #narcredflag,” according to People.
On Monday, however, the “Culpo Sisters” star stated, “I’m sorry the internet has their panties in a wad. It wasn’t that deep,” per People.
Culpo, 26, confirmed her breakup with Berrios on social media in March.
She opened up about the split a month later, detailing her side of the story in an Instagram Q&A.
When asked by a fan, “Are you able to talk about your breakup?” Culpo replied, “I haven’t addressed this because it’s been really hard to come to terms with and process. I’ll say that it didn’t end well or honestly.
“A lot of trust was broken. But I have an amazing support system and I appreciate everyone’s love & support so, so much. This community never fails to amaze me.”
Olivia, who is engaged to star 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, said in April how “proud” she is of her sibling for being transparent with her followers.
