The reigning World Series champion Houston Astros snuck into the playoffs this year.
After an airtight three-way race for the AL West crown with the Rangers and Mariners, Dusty Baker’s club eked out a division crown on the final day of the season with a 90-72 record.
Now, having rested for nearly a week after getting a bye through the Wild Card round, Justin Verlander, José Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman kick off their postseason against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Minute Maid Park in their best-of-five American League Division Series.
This isn’t the time to sleep on the AL Central champions though.
Coming off a commanding 2-0 drubbing of the Toronto Blue Jays, the team is hotter than ever having won their first playoff series since 2002.
And Carlos Correa, Royce Lewis, Max Kepler, Pablo López and Sonny Gray will want to keep that momentum going.
Plus, lest we forget, Correa is a former Astro with something to prove against his old club.
