As fans await host Ayo Edebiri and musical guest Jennifer Lopez‘s appearances on this week’s Saturday Night Live, a resurfaced podcast arrives to stir the pot.

According to TMZ, the Bottoms star appeared on Laci Mosley‘s Scam Goddess podcast in February 2020, which is described as “a podcast dedicated to fraud and all those who practice it” in its “About” section.”

“Each week host Laci Mosley (aka Scam Goddess) keeps listeners up to date on current rackets, digs deep into the latest scams, and breaks down historic hoodwinks alongside some of your favorite comedians!” the synopsis continues. “It’s like true crime only without all the death! True fun crime!”

Just minutes into the episode, Edebiri shared that she actually “was thinking about one of [her] favorite scams of all time” earlier that day in light of Lopez’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

Mosley deemed the gig “a scam in itself,” leading Edebiri to claim that Lopez’s “whole career is one long scam.”

While Mosley said that Lopez “can’t sing,” Edebiri followed up by saying she thinks Lopez “thinks she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs,” name-dropping Ashanti and Christina Milian as two alleged ghost vocalists of hers.

Noting that she “became fascinated” by these rumors about Lopez’s career, she also said, “A lot of the write-ups of the song will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ Like, ‘J. Lo was busy.’ Like doing what? Not singing, obviously.”

Decider reached out to representatives for Edebiri and Lopez, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Nonetheless, it appears that the past is in the past and the comments shouldn’t interfere with their work tomorrow night, as those with intel iterated to TMZ that the comments were made a while ago, adding that Edebiri is definitely a fan of Lopez’s currently and is “excited” to work with her. With respect to Lopez, sources informed the outlet that she does not allow things like this to get to her, and is “looking forward” to collaborating with Edebiri.
