Tom Hanks has ruffled some feathers after his recent performance at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special.
The comedian played a racist Donald Trump supporter in the sketch, where he was scared to shake a Black man’s hand. The sketch drew criticism from several Trump supporters online, including former SNL cast member Victoria Jackson.
Jackson, who was part of the cast from 1986 to 1992 and attended the 50th anniversary special on Sunday (Feb. 16), slammed the sketch in an interview with TMZ, calling it “stupid.” She also claimed she was offended by the show’s “sexual vulgarity” and “crude jokes.”
The comedian also told TMZ that the special seemed to take aim at everyone but Democrats.
“Did anyone make fun of the Kamala supporters?!” she asked the outlet.
Hanks appeared in the sketch, titled “Black Jeopardy,” as a man named Doug wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. He previously played the same role in 2016’s “Black Jeopardy” sketch on SNL. When he manages to get some of the answers correct in the most recent version, Kenan Thompson approaches Hanks to shake his hand. “Don’t like that, whoa, whoa, whoa,” he tells Thompson’s character as he slowly backs away.

Jackson also pointed to an X post from political commentator Link Lauren, saying Lauren’s post captured her feelings about the sketch. Lauren called the show out for spreading the “tired trope that MAGA is racist.”
“This show wonders why their ratings are in the gutter. Trump won the popular vote… SNL is an unfunny show for snobbish liberal elites. The current Republican Party is a big tent coalition compromised of many former Democrats. Good riddance, SNL!” Lauren wrote.
Meghan McCain also criticized Hanks for the sketch, writing, “Tom Hanks always wants to pretend he’s the likable everyman but he’s as hate mongering of regular Americans as any host on msnbc. Good luck becoming less and less culturally relevant by the second bro.”
