It’s time to return to Slough House.
“Slow Horses” returns to Apple TV+ for its fifth season tomorrow, Sept. 24.
The spy thriller series stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the head of Slough House. Slough House is a banishment assignment for MI5 service rejects who have seriously failed a task but not badly enough to get fired entirely. Life in Slough House is defined by monotony and dull routine tasks, yet the “slow horses” (as they call themselves) somehow get involved in investigating cases that endanger Britain.
In Season 5, “everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected,” per Apple TV+’s official synopsis.
Here’s everything you need to know about “Slow Horses” Season 5 on Apple TV+.
“Slow Horses” Season 5 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 on Apple TV+ with two episodes. One new episode will come out every Wednesday through Oct. 22.
Apple TV+ has not confirmed a release time, but the streamer will often release new episodes of original series the night before their listed premiere date. In the case of “Slow Horses,” you’ll likely be able to watch new episodes as early as 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday nights.
“Slow Horses” continues to air exclusively on Apple TV+, so you’ll need a subscription to watch the new series.
Apple TV+ offers a seven-day free trial for users, so you’ll be able to watch a few episodes (depending on when you subscribe) before the $12.99/month payments kick in.
Amazon Prime members can also subscribe to Apple TV+ directly through Prime Video. It costs the same $12.99/month price and also includes a seven-day free trial.
You may recognize members of the “Slow Horses” cast from “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “The Lord of the Rings,” and “Ted Lasso.”
“Slow Horses” Season 5 will have 6 episodes; check out the official Wednesday release dates for every episode below, but remember, they may be available to stream around 9:00 p.m. ET the night before the listed date.
In October 2024, Apple TV+ announced that the show was picked up for a sixth season, which has already completed filming. In July 2025, “Slow Horses” was renewed for a seventh season, so you can expect at least two more seasons of “Slow Horses” once Season 5 wraps up.
Yes! The series, as a whole, is based on Mick Herron’s Slough House series. Each season takes inspiration from a book in the series. Season 5 of “Slow Horses” is based on the fifth book, “London Rules.”
