Skip Bayless appears to be in his feelings over Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts recently parting ways with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Sports representation agency.
During a recent installment of his Fox Sports podcast, the “Undisputed” host claimed Wayne is “crushed” that Hurts reportedly left the agency — and that it was allegedly over a past photo of the rapper with Donald Trump.
“This is about my brother Lil Wayne and a quarterback I have loved, Jalen Hurts,” Bayless said.
“Recently Jalen Hurts left the representation agency that Wayne oversees… Nicole Lynn, who represents Jalen, also left Wayne’s agency to join Klutch Sports. Wayne was crushed over these developments. Wayne loves Jalen Hurts as much, or maybe more than I do.
“For several years, Wayne has touted me on, has told me to keep an eye on Nicole Lynn because, according to Wayne all along, she had superstar potential as an agent.”
Bayless went on to say that he is unsure exactly why Hurts and Lynn left Young Money Sports, but was aware of a popular theory.
“… There has been some speculation that I’m vaguely aware of that it had something, maybe a little something or a lot something, but something to do with the picture that was taken of Trump and Wayne, when Wayne went to talk to Trump about that $500 billion package that was aimed at creating jobs for the black community in October 2020,” Bayless said.
After the meeting, Wayne posted a photo on social media standing next to Trump while they gave a thumbs-up to the camera.
“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership,” Wayne wrote at the time.
“He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
Separately, Trump later pardoned Wayne in January 2021 — after the rapper pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge the year prior, stemming from an incident in 2019.
Wayne met with Trump in October 2020 in Florida, where the two discussed an initiative called the “Platinum Plan,” which increases access to capital in black communities by nearly $500 billion, creates 500,000 new black-owned businesses and three million new jobs, according to Fox.
“I don’t know much about politics,” Bayless said, adding he’s not political and “did not” vote for Trump.
“All I know for sure is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. has as big and good a heart as any human I’ve ever known. His heart was hurt over this.”
Bayless appeared conflicted on his podcast over the matter because of his close relationship with Wayne and Hurts being a “quarterback I have loved.”
Ultimately, Bayless sided with Wayne.
“I’ve always been such a fan of his [Hurts], that it made it a little hard for me last year when my Cowboys played Jalen’s Eagles, it made it a little harder for me to root against the Eagles because of Jalen,” Bayless said. “That will no longer be the case.”
Lynn’s departure from Young Money is not recent.
Lynn joined Klutch Sports Group from Young Money APAA Sports in 2021.
Last month, it was announced that Klutch Sports Group named Lynn its first President of Football to lead the division at large, which represents more than 60 NFL player clients.
Two weeks after her promotion, Lynn negotiated Hurts’ record five-year contract worth $255 million with $179.3 million guaranteed — making the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history.
It came weeks after he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance against the Chiefs in February.
Bayless congratulated Hurts and Lynn on the massive extension.
Lynn also announced last month that she’s expecting a baby in July 2023.
