NextImg:Skip Bayless rips Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over Dak Prescott contract

Skip Bayless may not be actively doing shows, but that didn’t stop him from reacting to Dak Prescott’s massive extension.

The star Dallas Cowboys quarterback reportedly agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract hours before opening kickoff on Sunday morning.

The contract makes Prescott the highest-paid player in NFL history.

And Bayless, who left FS1’s “Undisputed” last month, took to X and unleashed on the decision, closing the book on a long drawn-out process that ended in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paying both Prescott and wideout CeeDee Lamb what they wanted.

Skip Bayless had a lot to say about Dak Prescott’s extension. Skip Bayless Show

“Jerry Jones just made a QB who has stunk in 3 straight playoff losses – who is 2-5 in playoff games – the highest paid player in NFL history,” Bayless said. “This is why Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys have not even made it to an NFC Championship game in going on 30 years. Now I’m … STUCK WITH DAK.”

It was the first in a string of posts.

Bayless, just three minutes later, added that at 72 years old, his “love” for the Cowboys “is being tested like never before.”

He questioned Prescott’s merit as a winning quarterback.

“With Dak Prescott leading my team, we were down 27-0 as the 2 seed in a home playoff game the last time the Dallas Cowboys played. Dak’s reward: biggest contract in NFL history,” Bayless noted.

And he also sniped at Jones for giving Prescott the contract after being publicly non-committal.

“Jerry Jones took me right up to zero hour making me think he would actually have the vision & guts to make Dak play w/o a new deal this season and PROVE HIMSELF,” Bayless wrote, “even if it meant risking losing him to free agency. But Jerry didn’t have (as he says) the ‘tolerance for ambiguity.'”

The Cowboys have an unfavorable match-up in Week 1, visiting the Cleveland Browns — arguably the NFL’s best defense — on Sunday afternoon.
