Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor died from natural causes, the coroner announced Tuesday.
The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer died in July just days after canceling all of her music gigs to take care of “her own health” after the death of her 17-year-old son, Shane, by suicide.
She was 56.
“This is to confirm that Ms O’Connor died of natural causes,” a spokesman for Southwark Coroners Court told told the Daily Mail.
“The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.”
Shortly after O’Connor’s untimely passing, police announced that the famed performer was found “unresponsive” at an apartment in London.
The “This Is the Day” singer was “pronounced dead at the scene,” but her “death is not being treated as suspicious” as there was no foul play suspected, the Metropolitan Police announced at the time.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” her family announced over the summer.
“Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
O’Conner, who became just as known for her controversial political actions as she was her music, said a week before her death that she had been feeling “lost.”
