When you’re a part of one of the most famous royal families in the world, there is bound to be a few movies and TV shows about your life in the limelight.
Prince William and his bloodline was recently serialized and dramatized in Netflix’s “The Crown,” with viewers either loving or hating the show for its portrayal.
While some members of The Firm are fans of the show — or at least view it to a degree — not everyone is a watcher.
According to new biography by royal author Robert Hardman titled The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, the Prince of Wales, 41, and wife Kate Middleton, 42, won’t be taking to their Netflix account to watch the drama.
Middleton and William’s romance was one of the centerpieces of the final season.
“The Prince…rolls his eyes when people say that ‘it’s just drama,’” a source told Hardman for the book. “Yet he will not give it any greater publicity by complaining. He doesn’t like the idea of being seen as a complainer all the time.”
But this doesn’t mean that William doesn’t like to kick back and watch films for fun. He allegedly has an affinity for comic book action movies, according to an insider.
“Superhero movies are, apparently, a particular favorite, especially ‘Deadpool’ and all things Batman-related,” Hardman penned.
William was also reportedly “sickened” to see his late mother Princess Diana’s ghost (played by Elizabeth Debicki) on the sixth season of “The Crown” that aired last year.
A source close to him told the Daily Beast at the time: “It’s incredibly hurtful to have his mother exploited over and over again in this tawdry fashion by Netflix. He won’t watch it.”
However, William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, loves “The Crown.”
The Duke of Sussex, 39, spoke to James Corden in 2021 where he said about the series: “They don’t pretend to be news. It’s fiction. But it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course, it’s not strictly accurate.”
“It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that,” Harry continued.
The Invictus Games founder went on: “I’m way more comfortable with ‘The Crown’ than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself. That is obviously fiction – take it how you will. But this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news. I have a real issue with that.”
Last year during a press tour for his memoir “Spare,” Harry also gave more insight into his interest in “The Crown” in an interview with Stephen Colbert.
“Yes, I have actually watched ‘The Crown,'” he jokingly confessed, adding that he also “fact-checked” the series.
