NextImg:Shannon Sharpe: I’m thriving away from Skip Bayless, ‘Undisputed’

Shannon Sharpe explained why he’s better off after “Undisputed” on Fox Sports “let me go” last June.

Sharpe — who left his co-host seat on FS1’s “Undisputed” last summer and joined ESPN’s “First Take” in September 2023 — threw some shade at former co-host Skip Bayless while boasting about his success since the split.

During the installment of his “Night Cap with Unc and Ocho” podcast with Chad Johnson, Sharpe was telling the former Bengals receiver about getting ghosted by an ex-girlfriend before he took the conversation in a different direction.

“CBS let me go, I went to ‘Undisputed,’ got bigger,” Sharpe said. “‘Undisputed,’ let me go, now look at it. Look at the [subscribers].

“I got more subs than ‘Undisputed.’ Look at the talent they got over there and we got a new podcast — and we got more subs than anybody they got over there, combined.

Sharpe then recalled a previous conversation he had with his agent.

“I’m OK. I’ma be OK. I believe in me,” he said. “I’m always going to be on black… When something happens — I remember I wanted a situation and my agent said, ‘Hey, don’t worry about it, next contract, somebody will pay for what you lost.’

“Ocho, I don’t get upset, man. It’s not the end of the world. I’m strong.”

Sharpe appears to be just fine without Bayless.

The Hall of Fame tight end-turned-television personality is a regular contributor on “First Take,” during which he goes head-to-head with Stephen A. Smith, debating sports topics across multiple leagues — and things seem to be going well at the four letters.

Sharpe’s podcast, “Club Shay Shay,” has blown up after recent viral interviews with comedian Kat Williams and actress Mo’Nique.

He has 2.69 million YouTube subscribers as of Thursday, compared to 2.59 million for “Undisputed,” and his interview with Williams has nearly 58 million views.

Sharpe and Ochocinco’s “Nightcap” podcast has 991,000 subscribers.

The Post first reported last May that Sharpe was leaving “Undisputed.”

At the time, Sharpe was open about his rocky relationship with Bayless, and recalled going through a rough patch two months leading up to his exit from “Undisputed.”
