Today is gonna be the day this on-air personality will remember “Wonderwall’s” origins.
An exchange between PGA Tour star Shane Lowry and FanDuel correspondent Ali McCann went viral this week after the pro golfer revealed he’d love to hang out with British rock band Oasis — a group the sports betting host was apparently unfamiliar with.
“So if you could grab a drink with any celebrity, pick their brain, who would it be and why?” McCann asked Lowry on Wednesday ahead of the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
The three-time PGA Tour winner replied, “I’d love to have a drink with Oasis,” and referenced their upcoming reunion after a 15-year hiatus.
When Lowry asked, “You know Oasis?” McCann said, “I don’t even know.”
The response clearly caught Lowry off guard as he pressed, “You don’t know who Oasis are?”
“No,” McCann said as the two burst out laughing with the 37-year-old Lowry responding, “Oh my God, you’re obviously way younger than me, like, this is the biggest news ever.”
McCann then apologized as Lowry instructed her to look up the group that features brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, whose tumultuous relationship has been well-documented over the years.
“I’ll do that immediately after this,” she said.
Upon being tagged in an Instagram post of the back-and-forth with Lowry, McCann commented, “Ashamed of myself tbh.”
When a user responded, “Wonderwall? I have failed you…,” in reference to their smash 1995 hit, McCann said, “Upon research I was familiar, don’t be too worried.”
Lowry, who is tied for 14th after shooting a 2-under in Thursday’s opening round of the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, later joked about the exchange on X.
“I mean really??” he wrote alongside a crying laughing face emoji and the hashtag “Oasis.”
