A lot has happened in the year since Selling Sunset released a new season. Breakout villainess Christine Quinn left the show after causing a few HR nightmares in Season 5. On top of that, original cast member Chrishell Stause started another chapter in her real life romance epic when she revealed that she was dating Australian musician G Flip during the Season 5 reunion. Now Selling Sunset is back for a brand new season — and you better believe we were curious as to how the show would weave Chrishell’s new partner into the narrative.

To rewind a bit — Chrishell’s personal life has been as much a part of this show as overhead drone shots of architecturally bland mansions. We’ve watched her go from the wife of This Is Us star Justin Hartley to watching her sudden, messy divorce. Season 5 saw Chrishell jump back into the dating pool by falling in love with her boss, Jason Oppenheim. The two came got very serious during the season but ultimately split up. Season 6 kicks off with Chrishell fully invested in her new partner, a non-binary Australian pop star named G Flip.

And, gotta say, G Flip’s introduction into the world of Selling Sunset is pretty perfect. Their big debut is a shot of them banging away on the drums in a recording studio, belting out their new single “Be Your Man.”

Welcome to Selling Sunset, G Flip. Hope you survive the experience!

X-Men reference aside, G Flip’s impact on the narrative is actually felt in the very first moment of Season 6. The first line of the premiere episode is narration from Chrishell about this new era of her life, saying, “I know people think I’m having a midlife crisis but I’m having an awakening.” Then roughly five minutes later, Chrishell’s opening up to co-worker Emma about her new love.

“Some people don’t have love like this,” Chrishell says to her new best friend Emma. “When G originally asked me out, I was like, ‘Aw, I’m so flattered, but unfortunately I’m straight.’ I don’t know. It’s just like a funny construct that I had in my head. And so once I kind of got past my own ideas, you know, what I’m attracted to, I realized I’m very attracted to them. I’m just so happy and we’re having so much fun.” Chrishell cheekily added, “You know what? Sleep is overrated. You don’t need eight hours.”

While G Flip isn’t actually in the season that much beyond this scene in the recording studio (they were prepping a new album and festival tour in Australia during filming), you can feel the impact that G has had on Chrishell even when they’re half a world away. Chrishell feels a lot more confident and doesn’t let anyone — coughNicolecough — steamroll her. That leads to a lot of fights, sure, but only because Chrishell is in her self-assured, self-confident era.

And because of how time works in relation to TV production, we know that everything works out for Chrishell and G — because they just got married.

Fingers crossed these nuptials were caught while cameras were rolling on Selling Sunset Season 7.
