A mom from Scotland was left petrified after security cameras caught a man breaking into her home and sleeping in her bed, only to leave the house covered in blood.

But the story doesn’t end there — he even sent the woman a bizarre follow-up message on social media to thank her for the restful night’s sleep.

Caitlin Sullivan, 22, was spending the night at a friend’s house when she woke up to a notification via her security camera software, showing there’d been activity back home during the early morning hours, according to South West News Service.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Sullivan told SWNS. “I was so shocked — I didn’t know who he was.”

“I couldn’t believe there was a man in my bed,” she continued. “I don’t understand how he got into my house.”

Immediately after spotting the mystery man on camera in her bedroom, Sullivan called the police and met them at her home — but she claims that the suspect was never arrested, just taken away.

“My neighbors said the man was trying to get into my house the night before around 10pm — he was seen screaming and shouting,” Sullivan alleged.

The following day, things began to get even creepier for the 22-year-old, as she received a hair-raising message on Facebook from the unknown man.

“To give you my sincere apologies, I don’t keep well,” he wrote, according to SWNS.

“Thank you for letting me put my head down for three hours, hope no harm was done.”

He ended the message by telling her he hopes that they will be able to meet one day.

She has no idea how the man even found her name, and is especially concerned for her son after the chilling break-in.

After receiving the eerie note, Sullivan again phoned the police, who advised her to block the man on social media — but she remains extremely scared that he could potentially come back.

“It’s the fact that both me and my little boy sleep in that bed,” the mom of one told the outlet. “If I was there he would probably have climbed into my bed and slept next to me.”

Sullivan said she is too scared to stay in her own house and has only returned once to clean up the blood since the incident last month.

“I haven’t been staying in the house since,” she admitted. “I never want to go back to that house.”

The 22-year-old says that she is already looking to move.

“Who is to say he won’t come back,” she wondered. “He has not been punished for it so he might do it again.”

Scottish police confirmed the incident to SWNS, telling the outlet that officers were called to a report of someone within a house in the Sauchie area, near the town of Alloa.

“Officers attended and after being able to gain entry to the property spoke to the person within,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

“No criminality was established and the complainer was spoken to,” the spokesperson continued. “Police have received no further complaints or reports in relation to this incident.”
