More than 2,000 miles away from Manhattan’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a group of eager elementary school kids are giving the New York City procession a run for its money.

In the quaint city of Enumclaw, Washington, just an hour southeast of Seattle, the tiny tots put on their own rendition of the Turkey Day spectacle complete with tiny, homemade floats.

Their Sunrise Elementary teacher, Morgan Strand, captured her second-graders on video as they paraded balloons in front of a projection of a New York street.

“They used construction paper and markers to make their ideas come alive, just like Tony Sarg,” Strand told Storyful, adding that her students “had so much fun.”

“Some of the balloons were unicorns, owls, Pac-Man, Baby Yoda, Frankenstein.”

The video, taken on Nov. 17, was inspired by the Melissa Sweet book “Balloons over Broadway,” which follows Tony Sarg, the puppeteer whose talent and imagination helped the first Macy’s Thanksgiving procession come to life in 1924.

This year, the second-graders’ rival, the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on 77th Street and Central Park West before marching 2.5 miles down to 34th Street-Herald Square, where Macy’s is located.

The annual spectacle — headlined by pop icon Cher — will feature 16 colossal character balloons, as well as 32 inflatables, 26 floats, 12 marching bands and eight performance groups.
