NextImg:Search underway for teen missing while swimming at NYC’s Coney Island Beach

A teenage swimmer was missing and a second was rescued from the waters off Coney Island Beach Thursday, police have said.

Dive teams from the NYPD and FDNY responded around 12:45 p.m. to a report of a two people drowning at Coney Island Beach near West 22nd Street and Surf Avenue, according to police and sources.

A 14-year-old boy was safely pulled from the water, while a second teen, age 15, remained missing as of 2:40 p.m., sources said.

Photos from the scene showed responders in the water and along the shore as amid the search.

Three good Samaritans, Fernando Agurto, John McLean and Bejamin Colon, rescued the younger teen, who was reported to be conscious and alert.
