A jealous lover enraged over his girlfriend dancing with someone else sought out a random man in a Manhattan park and fatally stabbed the innocent victim last week, police said Tuesday.
Luis Gil, 19, is accused of plunging a knife into Hugo Morales’ chest as the 35-year-old man lounged on a bench at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park at around 6 a.m. on July 13, Chief of Detective James Essig said Tuesday.
Gil told cops he had seen his girlfriend dancing with another man on social media and vowed to stab the next guy he saw, Essig said.

“And that was the first man he saw,” Essig said during an unrelated press conference in One Police Plaza.
The victim had no connection to his attacker or the attacker’s girlfriend.
Detectives tracked Gil to Chicago after he got on a bus west, and he was arrested Monday night, according to the chief.
He is expected to be extradited to Manhattan to face murder charges.
