Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley appear to be making the most of their time in prison.

The pair’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, revealed on her podcast that the Chrisleys have been teaching classes across subjects while in prison to help commute their sentences.

“Dad’s definitely taught some classes too,” Savannah said during a recent episode of her Unlocked podcast. “Trauma is one of them. I think another one was a financial class, which, how ironic?

“Our whole system is out of whack. Nothing makes sense,” Savannah said.

Her mother, on the other hand, opted to teach a real estate class in prison. “She’s got all these certificates from teaching and completing classes and all these things,” Savannah said, calling her an “overachiever.” She has previously said that the couple are also working on their own books while completing their sentences.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars were convicted in 2022 of tax evasion and defrauding banks of over $30 million. Though their sentences have already been reduced, it appears that the First Step Act — which allows them to reduce their sentences by taking or teaching classes while in prison — is helping them commute their sentences even further, according to Savannah.

“That’s what mom and dad’s reductions were … good time credits. FSA credits,” Savannah said. “They get 15 days off for every 30 they spend [teaching or learning]. Something of that nature.”

Their prison release dates have already been moved up. Todd’s 12-year sentence appears to have been reduced by almost two years, with his release date now set to Jan. 22, 2033. Julie’s prison release date was also moved up to Oct. 19, 2028.

“It definitely has helped to reduce sentences. We’re grateful,” Savannah said. “We’re grateful there are programs out here that help to get your loved ones home sooner.”

She also expressed how difficult it has been for the family to get used to life without the Chrisleys at home.

“It’s getting difficult because yesterday was exactly eight months since mom and dad were gone. I think it hit everyone pretty hard,” Savannah revealed. “I know for me — the kids and I just hung out at the house all day yesterday, and we all were just in our own kinda weird moods.”

Savannah has previously spoken on what the reality stars’ lives are like inside of the prison system. She claimed the prison facilities were tampering with their mail and had them living in “inhumane conditions.”
