Saturday Night Live has lost yet another cast member ahead of Season 51.

Ego Nwodim announced she will be leaving Saturday Night Live after seven “unforgettable” seasons on the show. She made the shocking announcement on social media, just days after it was reported that NBC had confirmed its Season 51 cast after several casting changes had already been made.

“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight,” Nwodim wrote in an Instagram post. “But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am immensely grateful to [Lorne Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support and friendship.”

She continued, “Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always. Now invite me to your weddings please!!!”

Nwodim was previously listed as part of the expected returning cast earlier this week, per The Hollywood Reporter, alongside her co-stars Bowen Yang, Colin Jost, Michael Che, Chloe Fineman, Kenan Thompson, and more. Now, it remains to be seen if any other cast members will be leaving.

Nwodim is now the fifth cast member to leave Saturday Night Live ahead of Season 51.

It was previously announced that Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim will not be returning for Season 51. Writers Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker have also exited the show.

But four fresh faces will be joining the cast. SNL and Please Don’t Destroy member Ben Marshall has been promoted to cast member after joining in 2021 as a writer. Comedians Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska have also been added as featured players.

Nwodim enjoyed several memorable moments on the show since joining the cast in 2018 as a featured player, including the recently viral “Miss Eggy” sketch on Weekend Update or the “Lisa from Temecula” sketch featuring Pedro Pascal.

Saturday Night Live returns to NBC with new episodes Saturday, October 4 on NBC and Peacock.
