The feud between brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher is one of the legendary rifts in rock and roll, and when they announced that they were reuniting Oasis for a tour, fans were equally excited and wary, knowing that their history of on-stage fighting might lead to cancelled tour dates. Saturday Night Live parodied the brothers’ famous bickering this weekend in a segment about their upcoming tour, causing Liam to respond in classic Liam fashion.
SNL cast members James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman portrayed Noel and Liam during a segment on Weekend Update during which they constantly argued and childishly swiped at each other. When Weekend Update host Colin Jost asked them if they would be okay to tour together given their past history, Johnson, playing Noel, said,“I’m cool if he’s cool.” Sherman, as Liam, added, “I’m cool. I’m cool. I’m cooler than you are.” The two then argued throughout the sketch, pausing to discuss the only thing the could agree on, the fictional characters they think are “legend,” including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Donatello, and Steve Brady from Sex and the City.
When a viewer posted the clip to X asking Liam “Have you seen this?” the singer posted dryly in the replies, “Are they meant to be comedians?”
Some might say the dig isn’t entirely unexpected given famously prickly brothers reputations, but it wasn’t something Sherman took personally. Refusing to look back in anger, the comedian responded to Gallagher’s review with the perfect one-word response, writing, “LEGEND!!!!!!”
The Oasis Live ’25 tour definitely maybe kicks off next summer, assuming the brothers don’t go away before then.
