Real Housewives of Salt Lake City super fan Sarah Paulson has a bone to pick with Heather Gay. On Wednesday night’s (Oct. 2) episode of Watch What Happens Live, the Golden Globe-winning actress called out Gay for not coming backstage at her Broadway show.
Host Andy Cohen brought up Paulson’s beef with the reality star at the top of the episode, telling the audience, “I also want to point out that Sarah requested to come on the show with Heather. And Heather came to see Appropriate on Broadway and didn’t go backstage and Sarah was very upset.”
Paulson confirmed that she was “disappointed.”
“I’m gonna be honest, I looked at Instagram on the show — which is not something I did often — but I saw a picture of Heather,” she explained. “It was just of her thigh, a playbill and a cocktail. And then I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ And then I went through the bowels of the theater screaming, ‘Heather Gay is here!’”
Paulson added, “Everyone in the cast got so excited and then you didn’t come backstage and it was a really bad moment for me.”
However, Gay agreed with Cohen that she was trying to be “demure and mindful.”
This isn’t the first time Paulson has made her love of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City known. During a November 2023 episode of The View, she revealed that star Meredith Marks inspired the character she played in Appropriate.

“[Marks] has a particular intensity that I have decided to abscond with and tried to turn some of that energy into this person I’m playing,” Paulson said at the time, per Us Weekly.
When DECIDER asked Marks for the biggest celebrity to slide into her DMs, she named Paulson.
“Technically, I might have slid first, but I would say Sarah Paulson,” the reality star said. “When I saw that she had somewhat studied me for her recent play, I reached out. And she did respond.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
