It’s a good thing Joy Behar used to work as a teacher, because it looks like she’ll be schooling Sara Haines in her next sex education course. On this morning’s episode of The View, the co-host asked Behar to explain the definition of “third base.”

The conversation started during a Hot Topics segment about Jessica Chastain‘s decision to “take a breather” from her relationship with longtime friend and co-star Oscar Isaac after filming the HBO miniseries Scenes From a Marriage. According to the actress, it was “very tough” to act in a show about a deteriorating marriage — and she said her friendship with Isaac has “never quite been the same” since they filmed, per Vanity Fair.

The discussion prompted Sunny Hostin to ask Whoopi Goldberg — an EGOT actress herself — if it’s possible for two actors with onscreen chemistry to see it translate into their real lives.

However, Goldberg was quick to point out that their decision to take a step back from their friendship may have nothing to do with Isaac and Chastain at all — and instead have everything to do with speculation of romance between the pair from both fans and the media. With both Chastain and Isaac married to their own respective partners, the moderator noted that it can still “wear” on their spouses to constantly hear the same questions about their relationship.

Despite Chastain and Isaac’s purely platonic relationship, Behar noted that many actors end up “getting into each other” during intimate scenes. She recalled one story about two people who went a little too far while filming a love scene.

“I read a story one time about two actors — but this is like, we’re going really back into the ‘30s. We’re not naming who they are,” she said. “But the two of them got into a love scene and got so intense, that they went to third base. It wasn’t in the script.”

When Haines asked Behar how she “define[s] third base,” the comedian joked, “I know nothing about sports but I do know something about sex. They went to third base and the whole crew watched this happen. So it has happened.”

Just look it up on Urban Dictionary, Sara.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
