It’s Sabrina, b—h.
Reigning pop princess Sabrina Carpenter channeled her predecessor, Britney Spears, during last night’s VMAs 2025 performance, which featured a bedazzled bra that resembled a sultry look the iconic singer wore in the early aughts.
Styled by Jared Ellner, Carpenter, 26, bared her midriff in the embellished piece, which featured fringe that hit right below her belly button and a halterneck silhouette.
The bottom half of her outfit was equally as statement-making; the “Espresso” singer layered tiny black sequin hot pants atop sparkly tights.
Carpenter styled the performance getup with shiny black Mary Jane pumps and bright purple eyeshadow.
The look paid homage to Spears’ famous diamond outfit, designed by esteemed designer Bob Mackie, for her 2001 Dream Within a Dream Tour. Mackie created the outfit for the 1981 Las Vegas show “Jubilee!”
Spears wore the luxe bra alongside a matching diamond armband and underwear, which were all sold for $78,000 in April by Julien’s Auctions.
And the blinged-out looks weren’t the only similarity — Carpenter performed in manufactured “rain” during the awards show on Sunday night, just like Spears.

Carpenter was a sartorial sensation last night, making multiple outfit changes throughout the broadcast.
In addition to this bedazzled bra moment, the pop star posed on the red carpet in a red embellished Valentino gown and a fuzzy light purple shawl. Then, during the show, she took to the stage in an off-the-shoulder rhinestone-covered top.
Her multi-color, bedazzled Bob Mackie creation, which hailed from the designer’s spring 1986 collection, was a hit as well.
She was also a big winner on Sunday night — Carpenter took home the awards for best pop artist, best album and best visual effects.
